In terms of importance, English is the first language in the world. It is the second in regard to the number of its speakers in countries such as England, the United States of America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and other countries. It is also used as a second language in many other countries.
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the importance of the English language emerges from its need in many political, economic, commercial and educational fields. It is needed by workers in the diplomatic and commercial fields. It is also important in journalism due to the publication of some newspapers, magazines, and periodicals in English in the Kingdom, as well as in the organizations and institutions dealing with studies and researches in petroleum, petrochemical companies, and various other industries. Additionally, English has a pioneering role in introducing Islam along with its culture and civilization by publishing translated Islamic books.
