Description

A unit affiliated to the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. It is concerned with promoting enrollment in postgraduate studies of local university graduates and expatriates, and developing the capabilities of faculty members, assisting bodies in the field of postgraduate studies to achieve standard scientific research performance.

Objectives

• The organization and continuous development of the College policy regarding postgraduate studies and scholarships.
• Providing the appropriate scientific environment for post graduate degrees (Master's).
• Working on offering postgraduate programs according to the faculty's specializations in order to achieve the strategic directions of the faculty.

Mission

• To implement and pursue the College postgraduate policy.
• To supervise the development and review of the conditions for admission to postgraduate studies.
• To supervise the College postgraduate processes, tests and committees.
• To co-ordinate with the College units in all relevant fields.
• To supervise the activities of the induction program for postgraduate students, and monitor its implementation.
• To receive graduate students’ applications for the Deanship of Graduate Studies and distribute them among the various departments.
• Departments’ decisions regarding requests from graduate students are received and sent to the Deanship of Graduate Studies after approval by the College Council.
• Supervises requests for postponement and forgiveness for not studying, as well as deletions, additions and disadvantage lists in accordance with the decisions and regulations issued in this regard for graduate students.

Responsibilities of the head of the unit

• To follow up the postgraduate programs and to plan for their development in coordination with the program managers.
•  To make sure that the admission exam works are conducted properly in postgraduate study programs for new applicants.
• To coordinate with the departments regarding postgraduate students' applications and to submit them to the appropriate representative.
• To assist the Vice Dean in planning and organizing all that would facilitate the workflow of the unit.
• To follow up the progress of the periodic reports of the Master’s theses for postgraduate students and submit them to the Vice Dean.
• To prepare an annual report on the unit's activity and submit it to the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
